Steam breaks new record with 34 million concurrents

Over the past few years, the Steam platform has seen strong and consistent growth, with the PC-based service reaching record numbers of concurrent players every few months. Steam’s latest milestone has now seen the service surpass 34 million concurrent users for the first time ever.

Back in January, we reported on Steam’s latest concurrent record, with the service having managed to reach new heights with 33,675,229 online players. In a little under two months since, Steam has once again surpassed itself, seeing over 34 million users (34,649,583 to be exact).

For further context, Steam first reached the 33 million figure back in January of last year, and while concurrents have ebbed and flowed since, we have seen a notable and steady increase in overall users – now culminating with this latest milestone.

Alongside the new user record, total in-game players also saw a notable increase, reaching a total of 11 million players (11,146,564) for the second time in history and setting its own record.

With the Steam platform finally breaking the 34 million barrier, it will be interesting to see how long it will take to hit 35 million – probably not too long.
