Intel Arrow Lake-H to feature Xe-LPG+ iGPU, Arrow Lake-S comes with Xe-LPG

Intel Arrow Lake is coming up and it would seem that we now know what to expect on the integrated graphics side. According to new reports, Arrow Lake-S processors will utilise Xe-LPG for the iGPU, while the Laptop oriented Arrow Lake-H CPUs will feature Xe-LPG+.

Coelacanth's Dream (via VideoCardz) notes that Intel has modified the code of “C for Metal Compiler” (cm-compiler) and VC Intrinsics, where we can see what kind of iGPU each platform has. According to the code, Arrow Lake-H will utilise LPG+, while the desktop models known as Arrow Lake-S will get Xe-LPG instead.

An Intel engineer has confirmed that Xe-LPG+ will only be available in a limited number of SKUs, with Intel listing it as GFX version 12.74. To accurately indicate which version is supported, Intel has to specify distinct PCI Device IDs inside the program.

There are rumours that Xe-LPG+ will offer DPAS (Dot Product Accumulate Systolic) instructions, enabling FP16, BF16, IN4, and INT4 multiplication with 16 or 32-bit accumulation. This would allow the GPU to perform more operations per clock. The Xe-HPG architecture already supports this instruction, but it was deactivated. Its goal is to allow the GPU to perform more operations per clock. Intel has documented this instruction in the Xe-HPG overview.

Intel Arrow Lake-S is expected to be available this year, with the mobile Arrow Lake-H and low-power Lunar Lake-MX series following shortly after that.

KitGuru says: We're unsure how Xe-LPG+ differs from the standard Xe-LPG. Whether it's more cores, higher clocks, or something else, we'll have to wait and see.
