Persona 3 Reload reportedly coming to Nintendo Switch successor

Following the official announcement of Persona 3 Reload, fans discovered an unlisted trailer which seemed to suggest that the remake would be coming to the Nintendo Switch. This ended up not being the case, though according to one leaker, Persona 3 Reload is being held back for Nintendo’s upcoming Switch successor.

Yesterday we reported on an interview which saw an ATLUS representative explain the lack of Persona 3 Reload for the Switch, saying at the time “As soon as we began to conceptualize everything that would come in Persona 3 Reload, we decided that there would be no version for the Nintendo Switch. Of course the idea is there, but it's a matter of discussing it with the team and seeing what they think about it and we'll see what happens.”

At the time, we speculated whether the reason for this was due to the all-but-confirmed Switch 2 which is rumoured to be coming out some time this year. While yet to be officially confirmed, known ATLUS leaker ‘MbKKssTBhz5’ later stated as much, explaining that the lack of a Switch release is “Because P3R will be on the next Nintendo hardware. And Metaphor too.”

For the uninitiated, Metaphor: ReFantazio is the first new game from ATLUS’ Studio Zero. Announced back in 2016, the game is currently said to be coming to PC, Xbox Series X|S, PS5 and PS4 later this year.

Considering the fact that both Persona 3 Reload and Metaphor: ReFantazio are coming to the PS4, it is highly likely that the titles could conceivably have come to the Switch. That said, with Nintendo’s next-gen hardware pegged for release some time this year, it makes sense to hold back on releasing these titles.
