Final Fantasy XIV surpasses 30 million players

Final Fantasy XIV has been one of the best redemption stories in the history of gaming. Following its failed 2010 launch, the game was taken back to the drawing board, with the much more well-received FFXIV: A Realm Reborn arriving in 2013. In the decade since, the MMO has gone from strength to strength – now hitting a new massive player milestone.

Making the announcement on Twitter, the official FFXIV page said “Over 30 million adventurers!!! A huge thank you to our Warriors of Light around the world for your support. We look forward to bringing you all on even more exciting adventures!”

This announcement comes alongside the reveal that FFXIV is heading to Xbox consoles in February – meaning the total number of ‘adventurers’ is likely to increase greatly over the coming year.

Due to the fiscal model of FFXIV, it is unknown whether the 30 million players are all currently subscribed to the MMO, or if it is simply referring to anyone who has played the game in the past. Regardless, 30 million is a massive number and shows that Final Fantasy XIV’s best days are still ahead of it.

KitGuru says: Are you one of the 30 million? What platform do you play it on? How many new players do you think will join on Xbox? Let us know down below.
