Guardians of the Galaxy is free on the Epic Games Store

Each week, Epic gives away a game or two for free to all those with an Epic Games account. Kicking off 2024’s free games promotion is Eidos Montreal’s well-received (though underrated) Guardians of the Galaxy.

Available to add to your library right now (and will remain so until the 11th of January at 4PM UK time), Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy is a 3rd person action-adventure game which sees you play as the group’s leader Peter Quill – aka Star-Lord – alongside your companions.

Focused on offering a choice-based narrative, 2021’s Guardians of the Galaxy was met with a great deal of praise upon its initial release. Unfortunately, due to the sour taste left in people’s mouths by Square Enix’s Avengers game, Guardians of the Galaxy underperformed at launch.

That said, it being given away for free via the Epic Games Store will hopefully offer a new lease on life for the game.

If a AAA Marvel release isn’t your cup of tea, next week’s free Epic Games Store title will be ‘Sail Forth’ – an exploration-focused indie title which has you “Sail a fleet of customizable ships across an ocean whose ancient depths have swallowed the key to the mysterious past.”
