Steam Award winner ‘Dave the Diver’ surpasses 3 million copies sold

2023 was a massive year for games, with AAA studios and indies alike releasing their titles to a great wave of success. One such success story can be seen with Dave the Diver – having now sold over 3 million copies in under 6 months.

Making the announcement on Twitter, the studio behind Dave the Diver – Mintrocket – said “3 million global sales of Dave the Diver! Thank you so much for the support and love!”

For the uninitiated, Dave the Diver is a “casual, singleplayer adventure RPG featuring deep-sea exploration and fishing during the day and sushi restaurant management at night.”

Though the game technically released in early access all the way back in October of 2022, the game was officially launched on PCs this past June (followed by a Switch release in October 2023) – meaning it achieved this latest milestone in under 6 months.

Dave the Diver currently has an overwhelmingly positive reception on Steam, and while it technically isn’t an indie game, the title was nominated at The 2023 Game Awards for ‘Best Indie Game’. Indie or not, Dave the Diver has resonated greatly with players, and so it will be exciting to see what the team does next.
