Cyberpunk 2077 Patch 2.1 arrives today with full Metro system and other immersive-sim features

While we thought CD Projekt Red was done with Cyberpunk 2077 gameplay additions after the release of Phantom Liberty, it turns out that was not the case. Last week, the studio announced a surprise 2.1 update, promising some new highly requested fan features for PC, Xbox Series X/S and PS5.

Chief among the updates is the introduction of the NCART Metro system. Remnants of a Night City subway system were discovered all the way back at the game's initial launch but it was never completed. That is now finally changing, with a full metro system spread over Night City with 19 stations dotted around the different boroughs.

Another key part of the update is a change to in-game romance. With Update 2.1, players can invite their in-game romance to V's apartment for repeatable Hangouts. This doesn't exactly fit in with the urgency of the game's main storyline, but it is a nice immersive sim-like addition to the game, especially for those who have already finished the main story once and are now just looking to soak in as much of Night City as possible.

Those are the two major additions, but CD Projekt Red is also introducing a few new vehicles to collect, repeatable car races and even the ability to listen to radio stations while walking on foot.

Cyberpunk 2077 Patch 2.1 begins rolling out to all owners on PC, Xbox Series X/S and PS5 today, alongside the new Ultimate Edition of the game, which packages together the base game and Phantom Liberty expansion for those who don't already own the game.

KitGuru Says: CD Projekt Red continues to surprise with Cyberpunk 2077. It took a long time to get to this point but I'm glad we can finally celebrate the game for its many strengths. At this point, I'm sure people are disappointed we're not getting more Cyberpunk content any time soon, which is quite the turnaround, as I saw many saying CDPR should scrap the game entirely throughout 2021.
