I bet you didn't expect this. Sony and Xbox have collaborated (separately, we assume) with Yorkshire Tea to create two limited-edition controllers for their respective current-gen consoles. POPeArt designed both controllers, which are now available for over twice the MSRP of the standard models.
Of all the unlikely partnerships we've seen in recent years, this one should at least be in the top 10. Yorkshire Tea, one of the most popular traditional black tea brands sold in the UK, is launching PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S-branded controllers. According to the Tea brand, it all started when POPeART, a controller designer, tweeted Yorkshire Tea to show off a design he'd created. After receiving good first impressions, both entities held several Zoom sessions and converted it from a pipe dream into something real.
Inspired by the soothing branding of Yorkshire Tea, these limited edition controllers feature a unique button layout and a “soft-touch finish”. Each comes in a distinctive box with an authenticity certificate, ensuring you get what you've paid for.
Yorkshire Tea sells its PS5 and Xbox Series X/S controllers for £150 each. While a regular DualSense or Xbox controller may cost less, the unique design and limited edition status might make a tea enthusiast consider them. The number of controllers made is unknown, so if, for whatever reason, you want one of these, you better pick it up before it's gone.
