A Plague Tale: Requiem reaches 3 million players

A little over a year ago, Asobo Studio’s A Plague Tale: Requiem was released. The sequel to the 2019 stealth-thriller title took the core gameplay concepts from the first game and expanded upon them greatly – making for an even more ambitious and emotive title. This seems to have resonated, as A Plague Tale: Requiem has now officially surpassed 3 million players.

Taking to Twitter to make the announcement, publisher Focus Entertainment said “A heartfelt thank you to the 3 million players who embarked on the haunting journey of #APlagueTaleRequiem! Your support and passion mean everything to us.”

Perhaps even more excitingly, the publisher then revealed that they are set to continue their partnership with Asobo, adding: “Seizing this moment, we're delighted to reveal our renewed collaboration with @AsoboStudio for another exciting project!”

For comparison’s sake, 2019’s A Plague Tale: Innocence sold 1 million in its first year. Requiem meanwhile surpassed 1 million players in its first week (with it having now reached 3 million). That said, it is worth noting that 3 million players does not equate to 3 million copies sold, especially as A Plague Tale: Requiem launched day-one on Xbox Game Pass.

Even so, the success of A Plague Tale and Asobo Studio is notable, and so it will be interesting to see what the team’s “another exciting project” ends up being.
