DLSS 3 in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 is limited to the campaign

Months ago, it was announced that Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 would support DLSS 3, bringing Nvidia's latest Frame Generation tech to the game to enhance frame rates on supported graphics cards. As it turns out, that support only extends to the campaign, as you can't switch on DLSS 3 in multiplayer modes.

This is something that we could have seen coming. So far, the implementation of DLSS 3 has been reserved for single-player games. While DLSS 3 does enhance smoothness by inserting extra frames, this process also increases system latency. It would seem that to avoid complications, DLSS frame generation is disabled in Modern Warfare 3 for multiplayer, as spotted by several players.

Frame Generation can be switched on in Modern Warfare 3's campaign mode, and standard DLSS upscaling can still be used in multiplayer, but you won't be able to hit the button that magically doubles frame rates.

There is a workaround for this, but it involves moving some game files around – something that could potentially trigger the Ricochet anti-cheat system, so we would advise steering away from this.

KitGuru Says: Personally, I find this to be a bit disappointing, as I was very curious to see how well Frame Gen technology works in a multiplayer environment. With that said, if you have an RTX 40 series graphics card, you should be able to run Call of Duty's multiplayer exceptionally well anyway, without the need for frame generation.
