Playground’s Fable reboot appears to still be years away

We've known about Playground Games' Fable reboot since 2018, but it was only this year that we finally saw a real trailer for the game. Unfortunately, it seems that we're still quite a long way off from returning to Albion, as the studio is hiring once again for a number of key roles.

Playground Games is now searching for a new Senior Game Designer, Senior Level Designer and a Senior Quest Designer to work on Fable. Given that these are senior roles, it suggests that the game is being retooled in some way, and even if that's not the initial plan, it is highly likely that creative designers would want to leave their own mark, which could lead to previously made content being cycled out in favour of fresh new ideas.

The Fable reboot has also switched directors in recent years, so the situation has been somewhat turbulent from the outside looking in.

The Fable reboot was first announced by Xbox in 2020, just ahead of the Xbox Series X/S launch. The first gameplay trailer arrived earlier this year but there is no release date at this time.

KitGuru Says: It is starting to seem that Fable won't be arriving until somewhere towards the end of this current console generation, but as a fan of the original game, I would love to be wrong.
