Corsair K70 Core Keyboard Review

Rating: 8.5.

Corsair are back yet again with another keyboard release. This time around it's the lower end of their mechanical keyboard lineup that is getting an addition. The K70 Core retails for £89.99 and is aimed squarely at gamers wanting a good quality keyboard that's friendly on their wallets. It features Corsair's own linear red switches, full RGB backlighting, iCUE support, an included palm rest and a dedicated multimedia dial. The K70 Core certainly offers a lot on paper, especially considering the price. Can this new Corsair peripheral become the new entry level go-to choice?

Pros:

  • Great typing feel.
  • Good quality RGB.
  • Pre-lubed switches and stabilisers.
  • Foam dampened space bar and case.

Cons:

  • Non-detachable cable.
  • Chassis flexes under pressure.
  • Palm rest feels fairly cheap.

KitGuru says: The K70 Core is an entry level keyboard done right. The quality is present in the places it matters the most. The switches, stabilisers and keycaps all combine to deliver a typing experience that rivals keyboards that are twice the price.  Corsair have made some good improvements to spacebar stabilisation and dampening with the K70 Core and are definitely heading in the right direction. Compromises have been made in regards to build quality to keep the price down but production costs have been cut in the areas where it will be least noticed.
