Bungie’s brand new IP will reportedly use Unreal Engine 5

Alongside their ongoing work with Destiny 2 and the rebirth of the long-dormant Marathon franchise, Bungie is said to have been quietly working on a brand new IP for a few years now. Known internally as project ‘Gummy Bear’, this unannounced PvP title is reportedly using Epic Games’ latest and greatest Unreal Engine 5.

In a report released by TheGamePost (who previously leaked details on project Gummy Bear), multiple sources have spoken to the publication to reveal that this unannounced PvP title will be utilising Epic’s Unreal Engine – with one source in particular stating their use of UE5 specifically.

While we know nothing about ‘Gummy Bears’ officially, TheGamePost surmised many of the title’s core details and mechanics, including the fact that it will be a competitive team-focused PvP live service title with “brightly colored characters and isometric gameplay” while also incorporating some Real Time Strategy elements.

Considering the fact that we still barely know anything about the previously-announced Marathon, do not expect to hear about project Gummy Bears any time soon. That said, it is exciting to hear that Bungie is working on a brand new IP.

If there's two things that Bungie is good at, it's gunplay and creating new worlds. It will be interesting to learn about project Gummy Bears when the time is right.

KitGuru says: What do you think of Bungie in 2023? Are you excited for Marathon? What do you think Project Gummy Bears will end up being? Let us know down below.
