Final Fantasy Pixel Remaster series surpasses 3 million copies sold

The first 6 Final Fantasy titles are undeniable classics, however they are certainly not the most pleasant to look at – especially using today’s modern displays. The Final Fantasy Pixel Remasters fix this and more, with many viewing them as the definitive versions of these titles. Originally released on PC and mobile between 2021 and 2022, the collection finally came to consoles earlier this year, pushing total sales beyond 3 million.

Making the announcement on Twitter, the official Final Fantasy page shared this latest milestone, saying: “A victory fanfare awaits! The Final Fantasy Pixel Remaster series has now reached 3 million copies sold across PlayStation 4, Nintendo Switch, Steam, and mobile! Thank you so much for your support and for sharing this EXP with us.”

For context, the remastered collection managed to shift 2 million copies by early May of this year, just a few weeks following its expanded release to PlayStation and Nintendo Switch. Considering that it’s only been 4 months since then, the fact that the Final Fantasy Pixel Remasters have already sold an additional 1 million copies is impressive to say the least.

It is worth noting that the games are all purchasable individually as well as in a bundle, and so what constitutes 3 million copies exactly is unknown. Regardless, it is encouraging to see that these classic JRPGs have resonated with fans both old and new alike. It’ll be interesting to see whether more 2D titles receive such a remastering treatment in the future.
