God of War: Ragnarok DLC is reportedly in the works

In the past, Sony has delivered major expansions to some of its biggest single-player exclusive games. God of War (2018) didn't end up getting an expansion, but according to a new leak, God of War: Ragnarok will be getting an expansion.

The Snitch is a leaker who made a name for himself in 2022, having accurately leaked a number of announcements from Sony's Summer showcase. They don't leak very often nowadays, but this week they did claim that God of War: Ragnarok DLC is in the works.

This lines up nicely with recent job listings, in which Sony Santa Monica was seeking new developers familiar with God of War (2018) and Ragnarok.

Sony has not officially announced any plans for new God of War: Ragnarok content, but assuming this leak is accurate, then we should hear something in 2024. The addition of an expansion could also serve as a good reason for players to return and start up a New Game+ save.

If the DLC is real, then we may run into a situation where it is only released for the PS5 version of the game, as we saw with the expansion with Horizon Forbidden West. Some third-party developers are also choosing to only release expansions on next-gen for cross-gen games, with Cyberpunk 2077: Phantom Liberty being the biggest example.
