Meteor Lake processors may be revealed at Intel Innovation event

The schedule for Intel's upcoming Innovation event in September has gone live and one of the presentations caught our eye. In a session going over Intel's Client Hardware Roadmap and the rise of AI, we should be getting insights into Intel's upcoming Meteor Lake processors.

Anticipation has been mounting for Intel's Meteor Lake CPUs, and the Innovation event in September appears to be the ideal platform for this unveiling. Traditionally, this annual event serves as a showcase for Intel's client products, including desktop and laptop CPUs and GPUs. This year's iteration is poised to give the spotlight to the Core Ultra CPUs.

A perusal of the Innovation session catalogue affirms that a dedicated talk is slated to explore the intricacies of the Meteor Lake architecture. Furthermore, a fresh roadmap is poised for unveiling, with a pronounced focus on the realm of AI. Meteor Lake is set to be the pioneering client architecture to integrate AI acceleration cores (VPUs), catering to the demands of low-power AI inference tasks.

While Intel has already offered some glimpses into the Meteor Lake architecture, the specific details surrounding SKUs remain concealed. What has been confirmed, however, is that Intel's upcoming multi-die architecture will adopt a new nomenclature – Intel Core Ultra. This nomenclature will distinguish the Ultra SKUs from their non-Ultra counterparts, the latter likely based on Raptor Lake.

The computational foundation of Meteor Lake will find its strength in Intel's “Intel 4” process node, a technology that will empower the Redwood Cove (Core) and Crestmont (Atom) cores. Leaked information suggests the upcoming CPUs will feature up to six P-cores, eight E-cores, and two LPE cores. The graphics architecture is also being updated, packing up to 8x Xe-LPG cores (Alchemist or Alchemist+). Intel Innovation is scheduled to start on September 19th.

KitGuru says: With the Intel Innovation 2023 event still over a month away, we'll have to wait a while before Intel shares more official information about Meteor Lake.
