Diablo 4’s next patch brings much needed buffs for Sorcerers and other classes

Just ahead of the Diablo 4 season launch earlier this month, Blizzard pushed out what ended up being a very controversial patch, bringing nerfs to all aspects of the game. Blizzard quickly revealed plans to course correct and now, a round of much more welcomed changes have been announced for next week's patch.

Diablo 4 Patch 1.1.1 is coming next week and will bring some much-needed buffs for sorcerers in particular, with fire and lightning abilities getting new buffs to make varied builds more viable. The Paragon board for the Sorc class is also getting reworked, adding in much needed defensive options to help with survivability. Barbarians are also getting new buffs to make fury management easier, while also making builds based on skills like Upheaval and Rend more viable in harder content.

Blizzard has also revealed plans to boost mob density in Nightmare Dungeons and Helltides by roughly 50 percent, which will in turn lead to more XP gain when participating in these events. Blizzard says it wants to do more to make the 50 to 100 levelling experience faster, so this is part of that, but we can expect more changes down the line.

Blizzard is also making changes to certain class-unique items and legendary affixes. The dungeon leave ability timer is also being reduced back to three seconds after just being boosted to five seconds. Blizzard noted that the change was indeed pointless and did not aid in making the game more fun and as a result, this change is being reversed.

While last week's patch campfire chat had a bit of a dark cloud hovering over it, this week's was much more positive. Blizzard has identified a number of areas where it can improve things in line with what players are asking for. There are still other issues that need to be addressed, like chain crowd-control effects, horse travelling and resistances not working correctly, but those will be tackled over time. In the meantime, making Sorcerer and Barbarian fun to play again should be the priority.

KitGuru Says: With the previous patch, it seemed that nobody at Blizzard stopped to question whether or not the changes made the game more fun. Now, playability and fun factor seem to be much more important aspects in the patch process, as they should be.
