Metroid Prime 2 remaster coming out “relatively soonish” according to insider

Following years of rumours, Nintendo finally released the long-awaited remaster for Metroid Prime to the Nintendo Switch earlier this year. In the wake of its success, one industry insider is now claiming that the second game in the sub-series is set to be remastered “soonish.”

Jeff Grubb has become one of the more prolific industry insiders over the past few years, offering time windows for publisher events; leaking the existence of unannounced games and more. As part of his Nintendo podcast, Grubb revealed a number of unannounced projects set to be coming to the Switch in the not-too-distant future, saying:

“Metroid Prime 2 Remastered probably is coming out relatively soonish, that is happening. That probably is happening relatively soonish,” adding that “Something not related to Tears of the Kingdom is happening with Zelda later this year” – though he did not elaborate further.

Fortunately (or unfortunately) Grubb did offer additional details for Metroid Prime 2 specifically, claiming that “It's gonna be mostly what people want, right. It's gonna have the modern controls and it's gonna be HD and things like that but it's not gonna get the love and care that Metroid Prime got, no.”

Many Switch owners had assumed that the recent Nintendo Direct included all of the games that we would see for the remainder of the Switch’s life. It seems this will not be the case. It will be interesting to see what this non-Tears of the Kingdom Zelda game ends up being.
