Intel’s latest Arc graphics driver brings 300% performance improvement for Assassin’s Creed Unity

Intel has been making big strides with its graphics drivers this year. Earlier in 2023, we saw a major update that greatly improved DirectX gaming performance on Intel Arc graphics cards. The latest driver is now rolling out, with some particularly impressive performance improvements, including a 300% performance improvement in Assassin's Creed Unity.

Assassin's Creed Unity launched in rough shape on PC, in part due to Ubisoft being too ambitious, with many issues arising from the number of on-screen NPCs the developers were trying to achieve. Nowadays with modern hardware, Assassin's Creed Unity is much easier to run on PC and a lot of fans have since gone back to the game and come away with positive impressions. On Intel Arc graphics cards, Assassin's Creed Unity was a struggle to run but the latest driver should fix that, with Intel claiming up to a 271 percent performance improvement at 1080p with Very High settings, and a 313 percent improvement at 1440p with High settings using the Arc A750.

Here are the highlighted performance improvements from the patch notes:

  • Assassin’s Creed Unity (DX11)
    • Up to 271% uplift at 1080p with Very High settings
    • Up to 313% uplift at 1440p with High settings
  • F1 22 (DX12)
    • Up to 36% uplift at 1080p with High settings
    • Up to 20% uplift at 1440p with High settings
    • Up to 10% uplift at 1080p with Ultra High settings and all Ray Tracing settings on
  • Deathloop (DX12)
    • Up to 10% uplift at 1080p with Ultra settings
    • Up to 8% uplift at 1440p with Very High settings

Intel's performance testing was all conducted using a system with a Core i9-13900K, an Asus ROG Maximus Z790 Hero motherboard, 32GB of Corsair Dominator Platinum memory and an Intel Arc A750 Limited Edition graphics card.
