Fallout 76 surpasses 15 million players as Atlantic City update announced

Though it launched in a somewhat laughable state, Fallout 76 has continually been updated since its release back in 2018 – bringing the live service title much closer to what fans would expect from a modern Bethesda Fallout title. Nearly 5 years into its life, Fallout 76 continues to grow with the game having now surpassed 15 million players.

Announced during the recent Xbox and Bethesda Game Showcase, Fallout 76 received a brief trailer celebrating the fact that since its launch on the 14th of November 2018, the game has amassed over 15 million players. This marks a notable improvement over the previous reported player count – which resided at 13.5 million players by the end of 2022.

Alongside this update, the team also teased 76’s next update: Atlantic City. Though unfortunately not a large expansion, the team said “coming soon players should prepare to let the good times roll, because Fallout 76 is headed on an Expedition to an all-new location outside of Appalachia – Atlantic City!”

Expeditions are typically much smaller and more contained experiences in Fallout 76, and so while the announcement of a new location is exciting, it is somewhat unfortunate to see that the trip to Atlantic City is being limited to the aforementioned Expedition. Still, it is good to see Fallout 76 continue to get updates so many years after its disastrous launch. Hopefully the upcoming update does enough to satiate the now more than 15 million players.
