Upcoming Gran Turismo 7 patch to add 5 more cars

One year on from its initial launch, Gran Turismo 7 is in an excellent place, with the PlayStation exclusive continually and consistently receiving free updates – most recently seeing uncompromising PSVR2 support as well as experimental inclusions of next-generation racing AI technology. Though perhaps not as expansive, a new update for the game has been teased, bringing with it 5 new cars.

Teasing this upcoming content drop over the weekend, GT7’s director Kazunori Yamauchi took to Twitter to say: “Updates is coming next week” – releasing alongside it an image of 5 cars shrouded in the shadows.

Thanks to eagle-eyed fans however it has been discerned that the 5 vehicles set to be included are:

  • Porsche 959 ‘87
  • Toyota Alphard Elegance ‘18
  • 904 GTS ‘64
  • RS5 Turbo DTM ‘19
  • Mazda3 ‘19

As with each content update, this upcoming patch will likely bring with it much more than just 5 new vehicles, but we will have to wait for the update to arrive before knowing more. Fortunately, that won’t be long, with the patch set to drop some time this week.

GT7 launched in March of last year with over 420 cars. Thanks to subsequent free updates in the year since, the total number of vehicles now rests at 462. While this is still a far cry from the series peak (GT6 with 1,237 cars), Polyphony Digital’s ongoing support for Gran Turismo 7 is highly appreciated.

It is unlikely that the game will ever reach the total roster of its predecessor, but nonetheless GT7 is bringing more fan-favourite cars to the latest and greatest “Real Racing Simulator.”
