Dead Cells set to get native PS5 release alongside physical bundle

Dead Cells may have initially launched all the way back in 2018, but the rogue-lite metroidvania-inspired action platformer featuring fast and frantic combat (alongside a near endless number of unique weapons) has only gone from strength to strength with each new update and piece of DLC. Following the release of the Return to Castlevania crossover, it seems Dead Cells is set to get a bespoke PS5 version – as well as a physical release,

As discovered by Gematsu, Dead Cells: Return to Castlevania Edition has been spotted on the ESRB’s (Entertainment Software Ratings Board) website with the available platforms listed as ‘PlayStation 5’ – suggesting not only that a current-gen version of the title is in the works, but that Dead Cells is set to also get a physical release.

While it is clear based on the name that this release will be bundled with the Return to Castlevania DLC, it is unknown whether the game’s other DLC packs will be included – though considering the game is getting a physical release we can only hope that it does indeed offer the complete package.

Though certainly not the most graphically demanding game, a PS5 release of Dead Cells could introduce a number of improvements such as 120fps, higher resolutions and could even take advantage of the DualSense’s advanced haptics for even more satisfying gameplay. We will have to wait and see, but regardless, the fact that this indie title is getting a physical release is certainly exciting in-and-of-itself.
