Samsung introduces four new ground-breaking monitors at CES 2023

Samsung kicked off its CES announcements this week with the introduction of four new ground-breaking monitors, including the new Odyssey Neo G9, packing a massive 57-inch curved Dual UHD Mini LED panel with a 240Hz refresh rate and HDR.

Starting with the Odyssey Neo G9, this monitor packs a curved (1000R) 57-inch mini LED screen with a 240Hz refresh rate, 7,680×2,160 resolution and a 32:9 aspect ratio. As a VESA Display HDR 1000-certified display, this monitor has to have at least 1000 nits of peak brightness. Besides being the world's first dual UHD gaming monitor, it's also the first to pack a DisplayPort 2.1 interface.

Moving on to the Odyssey OLED G9, this 49-inch monitor packs a 1800R curved OLED with quantum dot tech, 240Hz refresh rate, a 0.1ms response time and a 7,680×2,160 resolution (32:9). As most OLED panels, the exceptionally high contrast ratio (1M:1) means you get deeper blacks. Note that this is a smart monitor, meaning you get apps such as Prime Video, Netflix and YouTube through Smart Hub, as well as Nvidia GeForce Now and Xbox Cloud Gaming via Gaming Hub.

The third monitor is the ViewFinity S9, a 5K display with a 27-inch screen and a built-in Color Calibration engine that allows users to calibrate the monitors on their smartphones via the Samsung Smart Calibration app. Aimed at creators, this monitor covers 99% of the DCI-P3 colour gamut. Moreover, it comes calibrated out-of-the-box with a delta E ≦2 and features Matte Display to limit light reflection and glare. To meet creators' needs, it comes with a suite of other features, including USB-C and Thunderbolt 4 interfaces, a 4K SlimFit camera and Smart Hub support.

The last one is the new Smart Monitor M8, which will now have a 27-inch option in addition to the existing 32-inch size. Regardless of the size, the panel has a 4K resolution. Available in pink, white, green and blue, Samsung's new M8 monitor comes with a height-adjustable stand with tilting and pivoting capabilities.

Regarding its smart capabilities, it features a built-in SmartThings Hub controller that allows you to manage compatible connected devices, including lights, cameras, doorbells, locks, thermostats and more. This number will grow even further once Samsung adds support for Matter and Home Connectivity Alliance standards, which should come later this year. Another highlight of this monitor is the new My Contents feature, which allows the monitor to detect a smartphone in its vicinity via BT while in standby mode. If the smartphone is registered, it will display the photos, schedule and other things stored in it. Once the smartphone is out of reach, the monitor returns to standby mode. Other smart functionalities include mouse control on over-the-top apps, Smart Hub, Gaming Hub, and an integrated SlimFit camera.
