Bayonetta 3 recently released for the Nintendo Switch to a strong launch, having already won an award for Best Action Game at the 2022 TGAs. While Bayonetta 3 took 8 years to come out following the release of Bayo 2, PlatinumGames seems to be in it for the long-haul, as the studio has discussed the potential of making up to 9 Bayonetta games when all is said and done.
In a recent interview with IGN, PlatinumGames’ founder and creator of the Bayonetta franchise – Hideki Kamiya – was asked “Is there any chance we'll see a Bayonetta 4 or Bayonetta 5?” to which Kamiya confidently responded by claiming:
“I personally can't conceive the Bayonetta series ever ending. I want to make a Bayonetta 4 and Bayonetta 5, and I intend on pitching them to the company. We often talk internally about how we could make nine of them. I want people who love the Bayonetta series to believe me when I say: ‘I'm not going to do anything that will betray the players'.”
Considering the fact that Bayonetta 3 released 8 years after Bayonetta 2, it would be interesting to see just how long fans would have to wait for the game’s 9th entry.
That being said, considering the consistency of the games’ quality, it would likely be worth the long wait. The full interview can be found HERE.
