God of War Ragnarök gets photo mode with latest update

It has become increasingly common for video games to offer a photo mode to allow players the opportunity to take creative and fun screenshots. PlayStation has in particular pushed the functionality, with most of its first-party titles offering impressively in-depth photo capabilities. Though it was not available at launch, God of War Ragnarök has now gotten a photo mode.

Making the announcement on the PlayStation Blog, Grace Orlady, the Lead Community Manager at Santa Monica Studio, said “God of War Ragnarök is now picture-ready! With our latest update, you will now have access to the Photo Mode feature.”

Orlady then when into specifics with regards to the full list of features available to prospective photographers:

  • Apply expressions to the following characters in a scene:
    • Kratos, Atreus, Freya, Brok, Sindri, Tyr, Angrboda, Thor, and Thrúd
  • Hide main or side characters in a scene
  • Adjust camera controls with:
    • Field of View
    • Focal Length
    • Camera Roll
  • Adjust shutter controls with:
    • Depth of Field
    • Focus Distance
    • F-Stop
  • Adjust brightness and filters with:
    • Film Grain
    • Exposure
    • Filter Intensity, with finer controls for Vibrance and Saturation
  • Apply vignettes, borders, and logos

Ever since Sony first started putting emphasis on including photo modes in its games, we have seen an influx of impressive creations from across the globe. It will be exciting to see what fans end up capturing now that Ragnarok’s photo mode is finally available. The full patch notes can be found HERE.
