Rumours of a Beyond Good & Evil 2 stretch as far back as 2007, with the game later confirmed to be in development in 2008. Following this, the BG&E2 went into hibernation, with it finally being re-revealed at the 2016 E3 showcase. Unfortunately, it seems the team has been struggling to push the game through the production pipeline, with Beyond Good & Evil 2 said to be still in early development.
As reported by Insider Gaming, the elusive Beyond Good & Evil 2 is far from ready, with it said to still be in the blocking phase – meaning that the game world supposedly currently consists only of “bare planets with blocked structures for buildings. Any structures that had some form of detail were very low quality; almost like the game was being played on an ultra-low setting.”
Furthermore, while the game has received some form of playtesting – both internally and externally – Ubisoft has reportedly expressed to these playtesters that the game is still in ‘early development’ meaning the title is likely years away from release.
When Beyond Good & Evil 2 was first re-revealed, it was clear that work had only just started on the game. Unfortunately, it seems as though in the 6 years since its re-reveal, little progress has been made on the title. Hopefully the team manages to find the inspiration, budget, or whatever else is needed in order to finish the game.
