Bandai Namco trademarks Naruto ‘Ultimate Ninja Storm CONNECTIONS’

The Naruto Ultimate Ninja Storm series of games took players through the full and complete saga of the popular manga and anime series Naruto. With the series having concluded in 2016 with Naruto Ultimate Ninja Storm 4, fans assumed that would be it for the Storm games. In a surprise move however, Bandai Namco has now trademarked the name ‘Ultimate Ninja Storm CONNECTIONS’ – suggesting there is more to come.

As discovered by Gematsu, publisher Bandai Namco recently filed a trademark for the name “Ultimate Ninja Storm CONNECTIONS” heavily suggesting that the dormant series is set to return.

For the uninitiated, Naruto Ultimate Ninja Storm is a series of 3D console/PC fighting games which over the course of 4 mainline titles allowed players to experience the full story of the anime in video game form.

Outside of the mainline series, Bandai Namco also released a couple non-numbered entries, namely Naruto Shippuden: Ultimate Ninja Storm Generations in February 2012 and Naruto Shippuden: Ultimate Ninja Storm Revolution in September 2014. These games served as more of a celebration of the franchise as a whole – with canon being thrown right out the window.

While details on Ultimate Ninja Storm CONNECTIONS are essentially non-existent, the Storm name has only ever been used for consoles/PC and so hopefully this is indeed a new next-gen Naruto experience. With it not being a numbered entry however, it will be interesting to see what the team has planned.
