Take-Two CEO speaks out in support of Microsoft’s Activision Blizzard acquisition

We've seen a number of companies comment on Microsoft's pending acquisition of Activision Blizzard in recent months. The loudest voice in the room has been Sony, but we've also seen quotes from companies like Ubisoft, WB, Riot and others. Recently in an interview, Take-Two CEO, Stauss Zelnick, added his take to the pile, expressing support for the deal.

During an interview with The Wrap (via GI.biz), Zelnick expressed his belief that Microsoft acquiring Activision Blizzard would be good for the industry, and Take-Two itself: “We're certainly of the belief that it's a good thing for Microsoft and for the industry. We're in favour, it's a highly fragmented business and there's plenty of creativity to go around.”

Zelnick added that Microsoft is “an ally” and pushed back on the idea that Microsoft owning Activision Blizzard would lead to less Xbox promotion for Take-Two titles:

“Ultimately the consumer votes and if we create great hits, which is our business, the consumers will show up. And no one can take that away from us. No one can replicate that. At the end of the day, if they're focused on the power and strength of their own business, they're going to want to be pushing the most successful properties. If consumers are showing up for our properties and Microsoft isn't engaged, isn't involved, isn't a partner, then that would be a bad thing for Microsoft.”

KitGuru Says: Aside from Sony, most publishers have been pretty neutral about the acquisition. In the case of EA and Take-Two, both companies have landed towards the positive end of the spectrum.
