The M2 MacBook Air will finally begin shipping next week

It has been a month since Apple first announced its new M2 processor, alongside the first Mac laptop powered by the chip. Now, the new M2 MacBook Air is finally ready to hit the market, with pre-orders going live this week, and shipping beginning next week.

Apple confirmed this week that the M2 MacBook Air will be available to pre-order starting at 5AM PT on the 8th of July, and shipping and in-store availability will begin on the 15th of July.

The new MacBook Air is powered by the 8-core M2 processor. Compared to the M1, the M2 offers up to 18 percent better CPU performance and a 35% leap in GPU performance. Apple is using new performance and efficiency cores in the M2, as well as 24GB of unified memory with 100Gbps memory bandwidth – a 50% increase over the bandwidth of the M1 processor.

There are two versions of the M2 MacBook Air available – the £1,249 model has an M2 chip with an 8-core CPU and 10-core GPU and 256GB of SSD storage. The £1,549 model has an M2 chip with  an 8-core CPU and a 10-core GPU, as well as a 512GB SSD.
