3DMark partners with Lenovo to launch new DX12 Ultimate benchmark

3DMark, the developer behind Fire Strike, Time Spy and Port Royal, has announced a new benchmark called Speed Way. This new benchmark is being developed in partnership with Lenovo and will focus on the features provided by DirectX 12 Ultimate.

The new benchmark was developed to preview and showcase the new graphic technologies you'll see in future games. This includes ray tracing and real-time global illumination to create more realistic lighting and reflections, as well as mesh shaders and variable rate shading to optimise performance without sacrificing image quality.

The benchmark itself was developed in partnership with Lenovo. As the images above suggest, the benchmark scenes include some marketing material and products from the PC company.

3DMark stated that the new benchmark would become available later this year on Steam, but an exact date hasn't been unveiled. We also don't know if it will be a free or a paid benchmark, but considering 3DMark's history, users may need to own either the Professional or Advanced Editions to use the benchmark.
