Activision might be working on a standalone Call of Duty Zombies game

Recently, we learned through reliable sources that Call of Duty would be skipping 2023, with the next mainline game in the franchise being delayed to 2024. While there might not be a mainline Call of Duty next year, we are due to get Warzone 2, and based on recent rumours, we may also get a standalone Call of Duty Zombies game.

Zombies has been a popular mode in the Call of Duty games for years now and has come up in discussions for a standalone spin-off in the past. According to insiders like Tom Henderson and Ralph's Valve, Activision is working on a Call of Duty Zombies project, which is targeting a 2023 launch.

Henderson has added that the zombies project is not connected to any specific Call of Duty title, so it could very well be a standalone game for PC and consoles. However, it is also possible that it could be an expansion to Call of Duty: Mobile, and it is also possible that the project gets rolled into a major Call of Duty game down the line too.

Development is still early on, so many specific details have not been revealed yet, but we should learn more in the months to come.
