Microsoft and Obsidian reportedly in early talks for Fallout New Vegas sequel

In recent years, Microsoft has acquired both Bethesda and Obsidian Entertainment, paving the way for a potential Fallout New Vegas sequel. Fans have been hoping for a sequel for some time and now, it sounds like Microsoft is open to the idea.

In the latest episode of Grubbsnax on Giant Bomb, Jeff Grubb explained that he's been hearing from sources that teams at Microsoft are in talks for New Vegas 2, which would be developed at Obsidian.

However, Grubb also notes that these are early discussions to gauge interest, so a sequel would be years away, There is interest in making it happen, but nothing has been greenlit just yet. In the meantime, Obsidian has several other RPGs in the works, including Avowed, The Outer Worlds 2, and a smaller project from Pillars of Eternity director, Josh Sawyer.

Fallout New Vegas originally released back in 2010 and went on to become a fan-favourite in the franchise. The game was developed in less than two years and despite its commercial success, Bethesda and Obsidian did not team up again for a sequel.
