Apple to launch first M2 powered MacBook this year

After the success of the Apple M1 and its respective variants, many hope the M2 will also impress. Little is known about the M2's specs at this stage, but we should see it debut later this year, according to the latest reports.

According to long-time Apple focused journalist, Mark Gurman (via 9to5Mac), Apple will launch a new entry-level MacBook with the M2 chip later this year. This laptop will presumably be a 13-inch model using an LCD screen, so don't expect any miniLED nor ProMotion technologies. Moreover, Apple may also remove the touch bar from the new 13-inch MacBook Pro, similarly to the 2021 MacBook Pro models.

Besides the MacBook Pro, it is also expected that Apple will include the M2 chip on the upcoming 24-inch iMac, an updated Mac mini, and the new MacBook Air.

Like most MacBook Pro laptops, the new one should also release during the fourth quarter, most likely in October or November. In addition, the new iMac 24-inch mode, Mac Mini and MacBook Air should also release around the same time.

KitGuru says: What kind of performance do you expect from Apple's upcoming chip? Could it dethrone Intel Alder Lake?
