AMD FidelityFX Super Resolution is now officially open-source

AMD has kept its word and has made FidelityFX Super Resolution an open-source technology. Moreover, the company also announced that both Unity and Unreal Engine 4 game engines now support FSR, and that games including Myst, Vampire the Masquerade: Bloodhunt, Arcadegeddon, Necromunda Hired Gun, Edge of Eternity and Resident Evil Village will soon support the upscaling technology.

Starting now, AMD FSR's is available for everyone at Github, allowing any game developer to check the technology's documentation, download FSR samples, and add the upscaling technology to its games for free under the open-source MIT License. AMD also announced that Unreal Engine 4 and Unity now also support AMD FSR. The patch that adds support for AMD FSR to UE4 can be downloaded HERE. On the other hand, support for AMD FSR on Unity is still on a preview branch, which is already available to download.

As for game support, the first titles on the list to receive it will be Arcadegeddon and Necromunda: Hired Gun later today. Then, we have Edge of Eternity and Resident Evil Village in the next two weeks, increasing the number of AMD FSR-supported titles to 12.

KitGuru says: With so many games built using UE or Unity, we're optimistic that more and more games will support FSR going forward.
