Intel to show Rocket Lake-S and Tiger Lake-H45 processors at GDC

This week, it was confirmed that Intel will be taking part in GDC later this week, with a session focused on new Tiger Lake and Rocket Lake-S CPUs. While some Tiger Lake processors have already released, we expect to see new six-core and 8-core SKUs announced.

Until now, Intel has only released the Tiger Lake-U and the 4-core Tiger Lake-H processors but promised that SKUs with more cores would be launched at a later date. Featuring up to 8x cores and 16x threads and a 45W TDP, the new Tiger Lake-H45 processors will be used on high-end gaming laptops and portable workstations.

During the half hour presentation at GDC, Intel says it will provide the “first look at the new Tiger Lake H-series notebook and Rocket Lake desktop processors” to the public. This session will be hosted by Marcus Kennedy, general manager of the gaming and esports client computing group and desktop workstation gaming group at Intel.

Given the timing, it would seem that initial reports of a Q2 2021 launch window for new Tiger Lake laptop processors were correct. Intel's 11th Gen Core desktop processors will begin shipping first though, with a retail date set for 30th March.

KitGuru says: We'll have updates from Intel in the laptop and desktop space this week. Are any of you currently waiting on new CPUs before upgrading?
