Mass Effect Legendary Edition releasing in May

Back on November 7th 2020, BioWare officially announced that it was working on Mass Effect Legendary Edition – a remaster of the original trilogy. Today, we finally got our first look at the remaster in action, confirmation on various graphical upgrades and a release date.

The official reveal trailer for the game shows off the new 4K visuals. Overall, it looks roughly on par with how good Mass Effect can look on PC with lots of mods and re-worked textures. BioWare revealed that it used an AI upscaler to make the cutscenes higher quality – something that has been available in the modding scene for a while now:

Mass Effect Legendary Edition includes all three games from the original trilogy, with each accessible via one single launcher. Beyond that, all DLC is also included – and there are a lot of them. To be specific, there are over 40 pieces of DLC, including new story content, promotional weapons and armour etc.

Other features of the remaster include “gameplay and quality of life improvements”. This should have the biggest impact on Mass Effect 1, as the combat system was completely re-worked for Mass Effect 2 and 3.

Mass Effect Legendary Edition releases on the 14th of May.

KitGuru Says: It is arriving a little later than anticipated, but the Mass Effect remastered trilogy isn't far off from release. Are many of you planning on picking this up?
