Genshin Impact wins Apple’s iPhone Game of The Year award

Genshin Impact offers a vast open world with plenty of exploration, combat and even online co-op, all wrapped up into an RPG with full voice acting, proper direction and an evolving story. The most impressive thing about the game however is likely the fact that developers MiHoYo managed to get all this to run on a smartphone. As such, it is no surprise that Genshin Impact has won Apple’s iPhone Game of the Year, at its annual awards.

Each year Apple selects a number of games and apps to receive special recognition. For 2020, Genshin Impact has won the iPhone Game of the Year award, with the tech giant saying “the open-world RPG freed gamers to explore a massive realm filled with colourful monsters and earthshaking titans, all brought to life with cutting-edge visual effects.”

Since its launch at the end of September, Genshin Impact has received both critical and commercial success, grossing over $100 million in less than two weeks, despite being free-to-play. If you have yet to try the game out, Genshin Impact is available on iOS, Android, PC and PS4.

The iPad Game of the Year meanwhile was awarded to Legends of Runeterra, the free-to-play collectible card game from Riot Games, which is set in the same world as the ever-popular League of Legends. The full list of awards for the “App Store Best of 2020” can be found HERE.
