Philips announces 279C9 4K IPS monitor with 10-bit colour

Featuring a Zero Bezel design, the new Philips 279C9 monitor offers an “expansive picture” perfect for multi-monitor setups. The monitor comes with a USB-hub, extensive ergonomic features, and a 27-inch 4K display that supports Freesync and DisplayHDR 400.

The 4K IPS panel of the Philips 279C9 has a 60Hz refresh rate, 5ms of G2G response time, and 178º (H)/178º (V) wide viewing angles. This 10-bit panel features a 1300:1 contrast ratio and 400nits of brightness, allowing the 279C9 monitor to cover up to 90.7% of the NTSC colour gamut, and 109% of the sRGB colour gamut.

The monitor comes with a LowBlue mode and Flicker-free technology to reduce the user's eye strain. Thanks to the FreeSync support, users will be able to play without screen tearing if using a compatible AMD GPU. The DisplayHDR 400 certification ensures that the monitor can display HDR content, which offers more vivid colours and deeper blacks, enhancing the user's visual experience.

The included SmartErgoBase stand allows the user to easily adjust the monitor's position and reduce the cable clutter in the back of the monitor. The monitor's stand allows the user to tilt (-5º/20º), swivel (±175º), pivot (±90º), and adjust the monitor's height by 130mm.

This monitor includes multiple connectivity options, including a DisplayPort 1.4, 2x HDMI 2.0 ports, a USB-C port, 4x USB-A 3.2 ports (2x with “fast-charge”), and an audio-out 3.5mm jack. With up to 65W of power delivery, the built-in USB-C port meets the USB Power Delivery standard, allowing you to charge your notebook directly from the monitor.

The Philips 279C9 monitor will be available later this month, priced at £439/€489.
