Kingdoms of Amalur: Re-Reckoning announces September release date

Kingdoms of Amalur was a much-loved but oft-forgotten RPG which was released during the previous console generation. Known for its fun combat and colourful art style, the game amassed a small but dedicated audience. Back in June, it was officially confirmed that a remaster was on the way. Now however, the release date has finally been announced – alongside the reveal of a brand new expansion for the game.

unveiled by THQ Nordic alongside a reveal trailer, the publisher announced that “Kingdoms of Amalur: Re-Reckoning is scheduled for release September 8th, 2020 on PC, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One, featuring stunning visuals, refined gameplay and all new content!”

The new content in question is a whole new expansion built specifically for Re-Reckoning, with the studio saying: “Fateless One, King of Ballades, Siege Breaker, Hero of Mel Senshir. Your journey will continue in 2021 with Fatesworn, a brand new expansion for Kingdoms of Amalur: Re-Reckoning.”

Very little is known about the expansion, though considering the fact that it won’t be released until sometime in 2021, it’s safe to say that Fatesworn will be much more than simple DLC.

The original Kingdoms of Amalur was underrepresented by the wider gaming community – according to fans of the game – and so it's exciting to see that the series has been revived and is being given a second chance to thrive with a whole new potential audience.
