Stranger Things 3: The Game and AER: Memories of Old are free on the Epic Games Store

Epic Games Store is currently offering Stranger Things 3: The Game and AER: Memories of Old for free. Stranger Things 3: The Game is an action-adventure title that works as a spin-off to the third season of the TV show, while AER: Memories of Old is an open-world adventure that allows you to discover multiple floating islands and their intricacies. Both games are free to grab for the next seven days.

Stranger Things 3: The Game is the “official companion game to Season 3” of the Netflix series. In this game, you will relive the events of the third season of the original series while also completing new quests, discovering secrets, and witness new character interactions, all in a retro art style. The game can be played by two players in local co-op. Choose between a cast of 12 characters to explore Hawkins, complete the puzzles, and fight the creatures from The Upside Down.

In AER: Memories of Old you will play as Auk, a magical shape-shifting girl with the ability to transform into a bird. With the world left in crumbles, only fragments remain of what once was, Auk is sent on a pilgrimage to the Land of Gods to save reality itself. As Auk, you will be able to explore a “vibrant world of floating islands in the sky”, full of ancient ruins, until you find the end of the world.

Stranger Things 3: The Game received mediocre reviews, with Metacritic scores ranging from 53 to 72, depending on the platform. Critics said that this game might be “worthwhile” if you are a fan of the series, but it doesn't do much to “garner excitement”. AER: Memories of Old received somewhat decent reviews, scoring 69 on Metacritic. Reviewers enjoyed the gameplay and art style, but the short story and “lackluster world” were targeted by some critics.

Both Stranger Things 3: The Game and AER: Memories of Old are free on Epic Games Store from now until the 2nd of July at 4pm, at which point, they will be replaced by ‘Conan: Exiles’ and ‘Hue’.
