iPhone 12 may be delayed by up to two months

Apple usually releases a new iteration of its iPhone in September each year. It has been true for almost every new iPhone up to the most recent iPhone 11. However, since the recent outbreak of COVID-19, many things have had to be put on hold, and now reports are coming in that “iPhone 12” might be delayed by up to two months.

Since the release of the first iPhone, Apple has managed to sell about 1.5 billion iPhones worldwide. The last few years have seen about 200 million iPhones being shipped every year, so it's not an overstatement to say that many people are looking forward to each release of the popular phone. However, now reports are starting to come in saying that the iPhone 12 may be delayed with up to two months.

One of the sources is Jon Prosser, who tweets that the due to the travel bans that have followed the COVID-19 outbreak, Apple hasn't been able to finish its prototype for iPhone 12. Prosser also says that the iPhone 12 can be expected in October or November this year.

BusinessInsider also reports that analysts at JPMorgan have made an assessment – in line with Jon Prosser – that because of the travel bans in China, Apple hasn't been able to fully try out their new models. The analyst group at JPMorgan, “lead by Gokul Hariharan”, also draws the conclusion that a one to two month delay is to be expected.

KitGuru says: Apple – as well as many other big companies – is facing many obstacles due to the recent outbreak. The iPhone 12 may be delayed as a result of travel bans and slowed down prototype development. Are you looking forward to the new phone? What features and specs do you hope to see?
