CD Projekt Red shifts to remote work to combat COVID-19, no Cyberpunk 2077 delay expected

In an effort to combat the spread of coronavirus, a lot of businesses all over the world are shifting to remote working, sending employees away to work from their homes. This includes game developers, which opens up the question of unforeseen delays for upcoming games. In the case of CD Projekt Red, the team has shifted to a remote work policy and so far, Cyberpunk 2077 is still on track for its September release date.

In an update shared this week, CD Projekt Red announced that starting last week, the studio began “gradually rolling out preventive measures” to keep employees safe from COVID-19 health risks. This includes “upgrading equipment & infrastructure and working towards enabling employees to work remotely, from the safety of their homes”.

As part of this, CD Projekt Red has switched to full remote work, a policy that will be in place for “as long as it is needed”. Of course, working from home is very different to working in an office surrounded by your colleagues, so there will be some adjustment.

So far though, CD Projekt Red says it is “rising to the challenge and showing no signs of stopping” in its effort to deliver Cyberpunk 2077 in September.

KitGuru Says: When it comes to game development, switching over to remote work makes a lot of sense assuming that everyone has their security in check to avoid hacks or leaks. Nobody could blame CD Projekt for needing to delay Cyberpunk 2077 again as the world deals with a global health pandemic, but for now at least, it looks like things are still moving along as normal.
