Call of Duty: Modern Warfare battle royale map may have leaked through in-game glitch

While Call of Duty: Modern Warfare didn't launch with its own Battle Royale mode, evidence that one exists continues to pop up. Data miners have already uncovered evidence of the mode and map data has leaked. Now, the latest appearance of a Battle Royale mode comes from within the game itself, thanks to a bug.

Over the weekend, one Modern Warfare player took to Reddit to share footage of a glitch that transported them high above a new in-game map, which appears to be perfectly suited for a Battle Royale mode. A lot of the locations spotted in the video were seen in an earlier leak for the upcoming game mode.

According to earlier leaks, Modern Warfare's take on Battle Royale will feature up to 200 player matches, with solo, duo and squad matchmaking modes as well as the ability to set up your own private matches. Respawn tokens appear to be a mechanic, so if someone on your squad dies, you can bring them back one time before the feature is disabled. Various perks and famous Modern Warfare map elements will appear in the mode too.

We don't know when the Battle Royale mode will launch but it is apparently being developed by Raven Software at the moment. It could also launch as a standalone free to play mode in 2020, rather than just being tied to the main game.

KitGuru Says: Battle Royale ended up being the major selling point for Black Ops 4 last year, so I'd be more surprised if the mode didn't come to Modern Warfare eventually. Perhaps we'll see this drop when the second season of content arrives in a few months time.
