Netflix teases more Witcher story details with episode titles, logos and descriptions

The Witcher is less than a month away from landing on Netflix and while we’ve seen plenty thanks to last month’s trailer, Netflix is teasing us with more details. This time around, episode titles, descriptions and logos have been released and if you piece the clues together, you get a very good idea of which stories the first season is tackling.

Episode one is called ‘The End’s Beginning’ and comes with the description As monster slain, a butcher named’. Piece those two together and it looks like the first episode will introduce us to Geralt with an adaptation of short story ‘The Lesser Evil’. This will be where we learn how Geralt ended up with the title ‘Butcher of Blaviken’. You can see Netflix’s title and logo teasers embedded below:

Episode 3 is called Betrayer Moon and comes with the description “A picky eater, a family shamed”, with the logo seemingly blending a Striga claw with a Temerian lily. This is one of the most well known short stories in The Witcher series, with Geralt looking to lift the Striga curse from Princess Adda, daughter of King Foltest.

You can find the episode titles and their corresponding descriptions below, the descriptions all combine to form a poem:

  1. The End's Beginning: A monster slain, a butcher named.
  2. Four Marks: We look at a sorcerer's earlier days.
  3. Betrayer Moon: A picky eater, a family shamed.
  4. Of Banquets, Bastards and Burials: The Law of Surprise is how one repays.
  5. Bottled Appetites: A fateful meeting, a bard in maimed.
  6. Rare Species: The hunt for a dragon is underway.
  7. Before a Fall: A return to before a kingdom is flamed.
  8. Much More: The Witcher family, as you all like to say.

Those who have read the books will be able to piece together quite a bit from the logos, titles and accompanying poem. Although of course, we know that the creators won’t be following the books down to the letter, so each of these stories may well play out a little differently on the small screen. We don’t have long for all to be revealed anyway, with The Witcher set to debut on Netflix on the 20th of December.

KitGuru Says: Based on what we know so far, season one may end up resembling an anthology for the first few episodes, while the second half of the season looks set to really start tying things together for the larger overall story arc. Are many of you looking forward to the series next month? What do you think some of the new hints mean?
