Call of Duty Mobile has a record-breaking start with 100 million downloads in the first week

Call of Duty Mobile has had the most popular mobile game launch in history, with over 100 million downloads of the game taking place in the first week after launch, beating huge titles such as Fortnite and PUBG Mobile.

According to mobile app analytics experts Sensor Tower, Call of Duty Mobile has had a record-breaking launch week by achieving 100 million downloads. The game generated 56.9 million installs on iOS alone, which has far exceeded the entire launch week number on all other mobile platforms.

In comparison to other hugely successful mobile game launches, Call of Duty Mobile has easily beaten download numbers of both PUBG Mobile, which had 28 million downloads across all mobile platforms in its launch week and Fortnite, which saw just 22.5 million. However, Fortnite initially launched only on iOS.

The download figures for Call of Duty Mobile reads even more impressive when you consider the game has not been released in China yet, which is one of the biggest markets for mobile gaming. “This is by far the largest mobile game launch in history in terms of the player base that’s been built in the first week,” said Sensor Tower’s Randy Nelson to Reuters.

According to data from Sensor Tower, Call of Duty Mobile has been downloaded the most in the U.S with around 16.9% (17.3 million), followed by India with 13.4% and Brazil with 7%.

Call of Duty Mobile is developed by Tencent in partnership with publisher Activision, featuring 100 player battle Royale and the traditional 5v5 deathmatch mode on fan favourite maps from both Modern Warfare and Black ops, including Crash, Nuketown 2, Hijacked, firing Range and Crossfire. Activision has just published an update to the game adding a Free-For-All mode for a limited time until 17th October.

KitGuru says: Beating both PUBG Mobile and Fornite in launch week downloads is a big achievement for Call of Duty Mobile and shows the Call of Duty franchise is still massively popular. Have you guys been playing?
