Samsung announce new ‘value for money’ Chromebook 4 series devices

Samsung has announced its new Chromebook 4 and Chromebook 4+ entrants to the Samsung Chromebook line-up, offering great performance and a sleek design to consumers looking for a portable and reliable way of tapping into the Google experience.

According to Samsung their new Chromebook 4 and 4+ offer both hardware and software upgrades on previous versions, without sacrificing the value that defines the Samsung Chromebook suite. “The Samsung Chromebook 4 line is a testament to what can be achieved when you’re focused on pushing the boundaries of convenience and value for computers,” said Alanna Cotton, Senior Vice President and General Manager at Samsung Electronics America.

Samsung’s Chromebook 4 series provides a sleek and simple, sophisticated design. There are no visible screws anywhere, which gives the Samsung Chromebook 4 a premium look and thanks to the slim, high-quality hardware, the Samsung Chromebook 4 series will be ultra-thin, lightweight and portable. The Chromebook 4 comes with an 11.6-inch screen and weighs under 1.2 kg, while the 4+ offers a larger 15.6-inch display weighing just a touch over 1.7 kg.

The Chromebook 4 and 4+ feature extended battery life at 12.5 and 10.5 hours respectively. Both devices are equipped with an Intel Celeron N4000 processor offering a frequency of up to 2.6 GHz and Intel UHD 600 graphics. The Chromebook 4 series is available with either 4 GB or 6 GB ram options and 32 GB or 64 GB storage.

As far as connectivity goes, the Chromebook 4 has a single USB Type-C port, one USB 3.0 Type-A port, a MicroSD card reader and a headphone/mic-in combo socket. The Chromebook 4+ is equipped with slightly more connectivity options with an additional USB Type-C on top of what the Chromebook 4 offers. Both devices feature Samsung’s Island-type keyboard with touchpad.

In terms of cost, the Samsung Chromebook 4 starts from $229.99 and the Chromebook 4+ will be available starting at $299.99. Both new devices are available immediately in the U.S, with UK availability yet to be announced.
