IFA 2019: LEO checks out all new Philips Momentum and Brilliance monitors

In keeping with the tradition of new displays at IFA this year, Philips showed off a new range of monitors, ranging from the console gaming ‘Momentum' series to all new professional monitors. Leo stopped by the booth to check them all out.

The Philips Momentum series made an appearance at Gamescom in August. These are big 55-inch, 32-inch and 27-inch 4K/60Hz displays aimed at console gamers preparing for next-gen or already equipped with a PS4 Pro or Xbox One X. They use Ambilight LEDs and hit three main price points- 399 Euros, 799 Euros and 1,400 Euros, with pricing scaling with display size.

The Philips Brilliance 499P9H was at IFA but we've already had the opportunity to review this particular display in full, which you can find HERE.

There are smaller Brilliance series displays coming soon too. The 43-inch Brilliance 439P9H sports a 3840×1200 resolution, 32:10 aspect ratio, USB-C and a Windows Hello pop-up webcam. There is no pricing yet but it will also sport a 100Hz refresh rate, so it should gear towards the high-end.

There are also some 4K and FHD 27-inch options coming designed specifically for professionals with a bunch of performance maximising and eco-friendly features. Most of these new monitors are built with 85% recycled plastics and are 100% free of mercury, halogen and PVC-BFR. PowerSensor, LightSensor and Zero Power Switch technologies are also in place to reduce energy consumption to a minimum.

KitGuru Says: Lots of good stuff to check out from Philips this year, including a big push for eco-friendly displays. We'll be looking forward to getting more hands-on time in the coming months.
