ASUS ROG Swift PG35VQ finally arrives with 200Hz refresh rate and HDR

It has been a long two years but the ASUS ROG Swift PG35VQ is finally ready to launch. The 35-inch ultrawide 200Hz monitor was first unveiled back in 2017 and has been brought back to several trade shows since with no word on the retail launch. Now, the monitor is finally ready to hit the market and poses a big upgrade to previous generation 100Hz ultrawide monitors.

The ROG Swift PG35VQ not only doubles the overclockable refresh rate of the PG348Q but it also adds Quantum Dot technology and brings DisplayHDR 1000 to the table, making it a substantial upgrade over the original. The quantum dot panel adheres to the cinema-standard DCI-P3 90% colour gamut and can reach up to 1,000 nits of peak brightness across 512 lighting zones. For resolution, you'll be getting 3440×1440 and of course, this monitor does include G-Sync.

A display of this calibre does require some active cooling, so there are ventilation holes spread across the back and a smart-control fan that adjusts speeds to maintain thermals without becoming too loud and generating audible noise. The monitor comes with the same stand found on the PG348Q but in the box, you will get a VESA mount kit for attaching to a third-party monitor arm or wall mounting.

The downside here is really the price. While the 100Hz PG348Q launched at around £1299 and can be found for around £900 nowadays, the PG35VQ has much higher launch pricing. The MSRP price is currently £2699, rivalling the high-end 4K/144Hz monitors currently on the market. It is very steep but this is shaping up to be the most impressive ultra-wide monitor to date.

KitGuru Says: I've been waiting for this monitor for quite some time but I'll need to wait for the price to come down a bit before I can make the jump myself. Have any of you been looking forward to this monitor? Are you planning on picking one up?
