Keanu Reeves is a ‘supporting protagonist’ in Cyberpunk 2077

Earlier this week, Cyberpunk 2077 made a big splash at E3 by revealing that Keanu Reeves would play a character in the game. At the time, we didn't know much about his role but much more has been revealed during gameplay demos at the show.

Keanu Reeves will be playing Johnny Silverhand, a character that previously appeared in the Cyberpunk 2020 tabletop RPG. Silverhand isn't a physical person but is more akin to Cortana in Halo or The Joker in Arkham Knight- he lives in your head and follows you wherever you go, chipping in and making conversation along the way.

CD Projekt Red has been referring to Silverhand as a supporting protagonist. He is a digital ghost installed on a chip implanted in V's head. Who put it there and why still remains a mystery and will likely be a major story component as events unfold.

In the Cyberpunk 2020 tabletop game, Silverhand was an activist that stood against massive corporations. He was presumed dead following the events of the tabletop RPG but has seemingly managed to live on as a sentient AI.

KitGuru Says: Cyberpunk 2077 is coming out in April, so there isn't much longer to wait. So far, all of the impressions from the gameplay demo are very positive, so it looks like CD Projekt Red is about to deliver another hit. Are many of you looking forward to Cyberpunk 2077? Is it a day-one buy for you, or will you be waiting?
