Skybound Games will finish the The Walking Dead: The Final Season

After the collapse of Telltale Games, the last two episodes of The Walking Dead: The Final Season were left in limbo with many questioning whether or not they will see the light of day. Now, the creator of the original comic book has revealed that his company, Skybound Games will see Clementine’s story through to completion.

The news was initially announced at New York Comic Con, with Kirkman stating “We've successfully negotiated with Telltale Games for our company Skybound to come in and see Season 4 of the Telltale game to completion.” This was shortly followed by a tweet seeing the news go viral.

“Just stay tuned. Everybody involved is trying to make sure Clementine's story is told,” Kirkman explained at the panel. “It's a very unfortunate situation, but hopefully we will come out of it in some kind of positive way. I am not concerned at the moment with having to tell the story in comic book form because I'm hoping that the games will eventually be completed.”

Continuing the good news, IGN reports that Kirkman’s studio will also be working with members of the original Telltale team, however it hasn’t been disclosed just how many will be brought on board the project now that The Final Season belongs to Skybound Games in its entirety. Without Telltale being involved directly, it also doesn’t alleviate the more pressing concerns of staff being released from their contract without the severance pay that they’re owed.

KitGuru Says: While it’s great to see the property fall into the hands of someone who will passionately see it through, I just hope that all of the staff continuing to look for other employment get picked up on this project. Now that you know it’s going to be completed, does this make you want to pick up The Walking Dead: The Final Season when it goes back on sale?
